Obituary: Actor
Sir Nigel Hawthorne has passed away, after a battle with cancer.
Hawthorne was known for playing civil servant Sir Humphrey Appleby in the
classic of political comedy
Yes, Minister, and also starred in
The Madness of King George.
He was 72.
Sadly will he be missed, and his great "double take" may it always be remembered. For mine, as great as his King George was, I will still remember as a great moment as his speech to Bernard in the "Yes Prime Minister" which ended with the simple statement "How is your conscience?" "Much better, thank you" answered Bernard.
as much as we might take pleasure in the passing of "Sur Humphriy", we will rue the passing of Nigel Hawthorne.
