A scientist at The University of Florida has grown a brain in a vat, which can fly a simulated F22 fighter. The "brain", made of rat neurons, controls the simulated combat hardware through an interface to a PC. And so, real life imitates Banksy stencils.

If you wire things up correctly, you can "fly a simulated plane" with a series of farts... I'd like to know how the FEEDBACK is implemented. Are they zapping the poor petri dish each time the simulated passengers complain to the simulated flight attendants?
