Biotech companies use algorithmic music composition tools to
convert DNA
to music; not for artistic reasons, but to take advantage of the virtually
perpetual terms of music copyrights (95 years, but extended by law every decade
or so), as opposed to 17-year patents.
Sounds like post-cyberpunk fiction, doesn't it?
(There we have it: the very concept of "art" is now a weapon of
copyright fascism. It doesn't bode well for when the pendulum swings back.)
